Causes of Psoriasis presented in simple easy to understand language
Psoriasis is a type of chronic skin
disorder which affects one to three percent of the world's population.
It is a type of red patches covered by a silvery, flaky scale on the
outer surfaces of the skin and the scalp. There are different types of
psoriasis but the most commonly seen type is chronic plaque psoriasis.
The precise reason for the cause of psoriasis is not known, but it is
showed that a mixture of several factors contribute to the disease
are,
Immune System Causes of Psoriasis:
When the immune system functions in a normal way, one of the blood
cell called white blood cell generates a type of antibodies to foreign
invaders such as bacteria and viruses. They also produce a chemical
whose main job is in the healing and fighting against infective
agents. But in the case of psoriasis, these cells make the body to
fight against normal tissue in the skin. And also these cells produce
an large quantity of "healing" chemicals that actually cause more
inflammation in the skin and joints.
Genetic Causes of Psoriasis:
Research have found a new gene “4 key genes” which is actually
involved with psoriasis. They actually control the human leukocyte
antigen (HLA) system. Function of these HLA molecules is to present
the foreign substances to the immune system so that they can be
destroyed, but this function or process is malfunctioned in psoriasis.
Patients suffering from Psoriasis will have a specific HLA genetic
factor called HLA-CW6. this factor is having a tendency to develop
psoriasis at an earlier age.
Weather Triggers of Psoriasis:
Weather and Climatic Conditions: Chances are there to develop the
Psoriasis due to weather and climatic conditions. People living in
cold, dry climates are at the higher risk of developing psoriasis than
people living warm climates.
Stress Triggers of Psoriasis:
Stress, anger, and emotional feelings such as depression and anxiety
are most commonly associated with psoriasis diseases. Studies show
that stress will trigger certain immune factors associated with
psoriasis.
Infection Triggers of Psoriasis:
Infections caused by certain types of bacteria and viruses may cause
the psoriasis diseases. One such bacteria is streptococcus that causes
infections such as tonsillitis, sinusitis, and "strep throat" are the
trigger guttate psoriasis. The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is
also associated with psoriasis.
Skin Injury Triggers of Psoriasis:
Chances of developing Psoriasis at the site of a previous skin injury
is possible, such as cut, burn, or injection.
Drug Triggers of Psoriasis:
Taking certain types of drugs such as ant malarial, beta blockers,
Hydroxychloroquine, Chloroquine and lithium makes you more flat to
psoriasis.
